“One of my most impactful…”

“One of my most impactful high school experiences was Mock Congress. I ran for Majority Leader and it was so fun, working with the party and writing my own bill about ending human embryonic stem cell research. It was a chance for me to act upon my beliefs that aren’t too popular within some groups in our school. Coming into high school, I didn’t have too many experiences where my ideas were challenged. Being around other students who are very vocal about their ideas has helped me voice my own. I’ve learned that it’s important not only to try and convince people of your opinions, but to inform them. I used to go to church sometimes and sit by myself and contemplate pro-life issues and wonder if I was fully there or not, but having these opposing views in school has helped me strengthen my own beliefs.”
