“We shouldn’t be so closed off. The school is sort of diverse, but I think we could do better. I am the only African American girl in a lot of my classes. That has been fine over the past four years, but I have been more aware of that, and I have been more aware of people’s perceptions of if I’m doing something different, or those types of things. I want the school to be more aware, but that is only if we become more diverse as a school. I hope we can go in that direction a little more as we continue throughout the years, but right now I have to be honest, I am not entirely happy with how we approach diverse issues and diverse conversations. We are closed off in terms of being aware of other people’s appearances and opinions. That is something we could all do better.”
